Officers at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge sent a Nissan Rogue to secondary inspection on Sept. 30, where a dog and a scanner revealed 18 packages of cocaine worth about $628,000. The Mexican woman driving and a US citizen passenger were taken into custody, and Homeland Security Investigations is leading the case.

Colombia's National Police announced on Oct. 6 the results of Operation Jotam, a month of airport checks that yielded 4,921.5 kg of cocaine and 96.7 kg of marijuana and 32 arrests. The largest finds were 3,500 kg of cocaine concealed in beer bound for Toledo, Spain, and 1,211 kg mixed with coffee headed to Barcelona, with support from US Homeland Security Investigations.
Colombia's DIJIN, working with prosecutors and INTERPOL, found 1,412 kg of cocaine hydrochloride at a rural property in Palmira, Valle del Cauca, along with a tractor-trailer, a firearm and 43.5 million pesos. Santiago Rubiano Laverde, alias 'Transportador', was arrested as a suspected member of the group's Valle sub-structure; the load was headed for Central and North America.
